West Papuan leader Rex Rumakiek to visit Aotearoa – funds needed!

Kia ora koutou,
Can you help us bring Rex Rumakiek back to Aotearoa?
Many of you will know of Rex Rumakiek, executive member of the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP). He has played a key role in the struggle for freedom for West Papua since the 1960s and he is cited many times in Maire’s book “See No Evil: New Zealand’s betrayal of the people of West Papua’.
Rex’s first visit to Aotearoa was in 1983 and some may remember this important visit – the first time New Zealanders met someone representing resistance to Indonesian colonial rule. His brief then encompassed other Pacific struggles as well, as it still does.
West Papua Action Auckland is bringing Rex back to Aotearoa to attend the Auckland launching of ‘See No Evil: New Zealand’s betrayal of the people of West Papua’ on 15 July. Rex will be available for media interviews and will be meeting with a number of Auckland based groups and individuals working to advance social justice and peace.
However there is a shortfall in terms funds to bring Rex over from Canberra and we are appealing for donations. Can you help us out?! All and any contribution is greatly appreciated.
The West Papua Action bank account is Kiwi Bank 38-9014-0750540-00 please put your name in the reference box and Rumakiek in the code.
