ABOUT THE BOOK AND IT’S AUTHOR:
Gaza-born Palestinian author Ramzy Baroud is visiting New Zealand/Aotearoa as part of a world tour to launch his new book: “The Last Earth: A Palestinian Story”.
Spanning decades and encompassing war, mass exodus, epic migrations and the search for individual and collective identity, The Last Earth tells the story of modern Palestine through the memories of those who have lived it. Baroud said that he wrote The Last Earth “to relocate the centrality of the Palestinian narrative from an Israeli perspective to a Palestinian one, especially one that overlooks the typical elitist narrative and focuses instead on retelling the story from the viewpoint of ordinary, poor, underclass and working-class Palestinians.” Ramzy Baroud is founder and editor of the Palestine Chronicle.

Enforce the Boycott: Stop Israeli Propaganda in NZ –
Sunday, 27 May 9:30am
Help call out the Doc Edge Festival for supporting Israel! Enforce the global cultural boycott of Israel!
In contravention of the Palestinian Cultural Boycott, Doc Edge Festival has taken sponsorship from the Israeli Embassy for a screening of Ben-Gurion, Epilogue.
We will be having a DIE-IN at this event both to symobolise the bodies of innocent Palestinian people murdered by the Israeli state, and to serve as a human blockade of those seeking to attend this screening.
Please come prepared to take part in the DIE-IN if you are able. We would also love to have people to hold banners, hand out leaflets, talk on the megaphone etc.
WHEN: Sunday, 27 May @ 9:30am
Where: Q Theatre: 305 Queen Street, Auckland
PLEASE NOTE: Anti-semites, racists, holocaust deniers or any other fuckwits are NOT WELCOME, and will be not politely asked to leave.
In the meantime, please
1) Write to the Doc Edge Fest and tell them why they shouldn’t break the boycott by showing this film, and taking money from Israel. Their email is info – if you want some tips on what to write, check out the letter Peace Action Wellington sent sent: https://www.facebook.com/events/121533075373919/permalink/124935418367018/
2) Write to the Q Theatre CEO James Wilson and tell him that screening this film is a violation of the global cultural boycott of Israel. Ask him to refuse to show this film. Email: info
