Parihaka Day Peace Action Conference
Sunday, 5 November @ Auckland Central Library Whare Wānanga
10am Mihi Whakatau – meet at front of library
The resistance of the people of Parihaka to violent colonialism is the foundation of the modern peace movement in Aotearoa New Zealand. Join us to honour that resistance, and build on it by working for peace and justice today. The second Parihaka Peace Action conference will be an inclusive and conversational space covering topics including the legacy of Parihaka, symbols of settler-colonialism today and militarism in the Pacific. The conference is free and open to the public.

National Landwars Commemoration Day

Auckland Peace Action will be joining Tamaki Treaty Workers at this event to acknowledge the establishment of this new national day in Auckland and the recognition of the injustice, harms and loss that resulted from the landwars in Aotearoa in the 19th century. We welcome the creation of this new national day and wish to take the opportunity to publicise these historical events that continue to reverberate in contemporary society blighting our collective futures.
Tamaki Treaty Workers have planned a brief low-key event in solidarity with the national commemoration. They hope to have a couple of speakers, wave a few placards to raise public awareness and share discussion around possibilities for future commemorations and related action. Please join us

| It has been devastating and heartbreaking to watch the news feed on twitter and facebook with the #MeToo. We will translate it into action now. Auckland Peace Action will be joining in the call to action by the Young Asian Feminists Aotearoa crew
On November 4th, Saturday, we Reclaim the Night.
The march will gather at Britomart at 7 pm and we will walk unapologetically towards Aotea Square.
We will be loud, unapologetic and we will collectively take to the streets and say “NO” to all forms of gender-based violence. Sexual violence disproportionately affects women and gender minorities. Together, we have the power to fight back.
Let us bring our voices and take up space. |

Blockade the Weapons Expo 2017: police violence, legal funds and report back
The Blockade of the 2017 Weapons Expo was a tremendous success. Many people, however, were subjected to extreme police violence. We want to send our love & solidarity to anyone who has been affected by police violence at this event. We also encourage people to seek medical help or emotional support as trauma can be delayed, and often doesn’t register until days or weeks later.

Legal funds
Nine people are facing charges – mostly of ‘obstructing a public way’ – from the Weapons Expo blockade. Please give generously to the legal defence fund (which helps with support, travel and lawyers’ costs). Account: Peace Action Wellington Account number: 38-9007-0839416-00 ref. legal
