Community and Revolution Reading Group
When: Four Tuesdays beginning August 22, then August 29, September 5, September 12 all at 6pm
Where: Te Mārama Room, Auckland Central Library, 44 Lorne Street
Join us in this practical reading group where we’ll use the philosophy of Baruch Spinoza as a tool to create new possible worlds and develop new strategies to fight back against oppression.
Persecuted, hated and excommunicated, Spinoza was a rebel of his times because he proposed the construction of a community grounded on freedom and desire. Today we can read Spinoza’s work with an anti-capitalist lens to increase our power, to grow revolutionary friendships, to resist all the blows of this domination system and to create a community that is no longer based on impotence and slavery but on a desirable life and political liberation.
No prior knowledge necessary, reading materials will be provided.
