Blockade the Weapons Expo
Wednesday 16 November 9:15am Silo Park
On 16th and 17th November, over 550 representatives of the world’s largest weapons dealers will are having a weapons expo at the Viaduct Events Centre. APA is organizing a non-violent, inclusive and family friendly blockade to shut down this event. We will be meeting at 9:15am at Silo Park on Tuesday 16 November. There are two Non-Violent Direct Action training sessions that you can take part in to prepare for the blockade (these are not required, but recommended). The workshops will cover non-violent tactics, legal issues, safety and how to work well as a team. The workshops are on Sunday, 13 November at 2pm and Monday, 14 November at 6pm both at Trades Hall, 147 Great North Road. The content will be the same on both days. There will also be a workshop at Morra Hall, Waiheke Island on Saturday, 12 November at 2pm.
Wall of Noise: Drown out the Death Merchants
Thursday 17 November 6pm Viaduct Events Centre
Bring along your best noise to disrupt the war party going on inside the Events Centre. Every year, the best weapons dealer gets a special award from the NZDF, along with a big gala dinner party to celebrate their warmaking prowess. This family friendly event needs loud kids who want their world to be free of the horrors of war forever!
Stop the Warships!
Peace Flotilla on the Waitematā Harbour
Over 30 navies, including the US, Russia and China, have been invited to NZ to take part in the "International Naval Review". In response to this extravagant display of warmaking, war resisters will take to the water to show opposition to the foreign warships coming into Auckland’s Harbour, and conducting war games in the Hauraki Gulf. The Peace Flotilla will build on the many years of experience from the nuclear-free Peace Squadron of the 1980s to oppose these warships. Sunday, 20 November 1pm @ The Cloud, Auckland waterfront
We’ll be having a peace picnic in the midst of the Navy birthday celebration reminding everyone that war is not a celebration, and that the $20 billion spending on defence is needed for housing, education, health and social services not killing machines. Please bring your picnic blankets, food and peace banners and messages to make our presence known.

With images from Aleppo reaching our screens daily, we can be under no illusions of the reality of war. War is nothing to celebrate. We want the people of New Zealand to come out and show their support for a future free of war.
The NZ government is seductively using war, weaponry and the sacrifice of New Zealand soldiers as a tool for recruitment and reputation building. This, along with the recently announced $20 billion military budget, signals a concerning move towards further participation in present and future wars. |
