Below are the details of peace vigils and other peace events in Hokianga on 25 April, Auckland on 23 and 25 April, Hamilton on 21 April, Whanganui on 22 April, Wellington on 25 and 27 April, and Dunedin on 25 April.

* Hokianga *

~ Monday, 25 April – ANZAC Day Peace Vigil: Honour the War Dead by Ending War, to remember all the casualties of war, to remember all who resisted war, to call for an end to war, and to promote peace. In conjunction with peace and faith groups here and overseas who are holding vigils throughout the WW1 centenary to highlight our mutual belief that conflict must be resolved peacefully rather than by war. From 1am until dawn at Clare House, 3 Opononi Heights Drive, Opononi, organised by Hokianga Catholic Workers.

* Auckland *

~ Saturday, 23 April – Peace vigil and ‘Loving Thy Neighbour in Our Global Village’ discussion evening: 6pm, gather; 6.15pm, peace vigil, please bring a candle; 6.45pm, tea / coffee; 7pm, speakers from community and faith groups, followed by refreshments and informal discussion. ~ Monday, 25 April – ANZAC Day Peace Vigil: Honour the War Dead by Ending War, to remember all the casualties of war, to remember all who resisted war, to call for an end to war, and to promote peace. From 6pm to 6.30pm at the Devonport War Memorial, corner Victoria Street and King Edward Parade, Devonport – please bring a candle, banners and placards will be available at the vigil. ~ Thursday, 21 April – Peace Vigil: Honour the War Dead by Ending War, to remember all the casualties of war, to remember all who resisted war, to call for an end to war, and to promote peace. Candlelit vigil from 6pm to 6.30pm on the steps of the Central Library in Garden Place, please bring posters and candles. Organised by Hamilton peace people.

* Whanganui *

~ Friday, 22 April – Peace Vigil: Honour the War Dead by Ending War, to remember all the casualties of war, to remember all who resisted war, to call for an end to war, and to promote peace. Silent vigil from 12 noon to 12..30pm in Majestic Square, next to Memorial Hall, organised by Whanganui Quakers.

~ Wednesday, 27 April – Banning killer robots: A humanitarian disarmament forum with Mary Wareham, Global Coordinator of the Campaign to STOP Killer Robots / Advocacy Director, Arms Division, Human Rights Watch. Join us for: an update on the work of the Global Campaign to pre-emptively ban the development, production and use of lethal autonomous weapons systems (‘killer robots’) – weapons that are able to select and attack targets without any meaningful human control; a report back on the third Convention on Conventional Weapons Meeting of Experts on Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems held in Geneva from 11 to 15 April 2016; and discussion about New Zealand’s position on killer robots. ~ Monday, 25 April – ANZAC Day Peace Ceremony: Remembering War by Working for Peace. The ceremony will open with a brief introduction followed by music, readings, a moment of silence, and the opportunity to make a pledge towards peace and tie a white ribbon to the Peace Pole to show this. Starts at 12 noon, at the Peace Pole, Otago museum reserve, Dunedin. Organised by Dunedin peace people.
