GPJA #464 (3 of 3): Support the people of Turkey Sat 2pm; International news and analysis – 6/6/13
June 6, 2013 Leave a comment
SOLIDARITY WITH THE PEOPLE OF TURKEY!
SHOW YOUR SOLIDARITY WITH THE PEOPLE OF TURKEY ON SAT (8 JUNE) 2PM – AOTEA SQUARE.
Bring your flags, placards, wear Turkish hats, Tee-shirts etc.
The people of Turkey have protested in 67 of Turkey’s 81 provinces, according to Turkey’s semi-official Anadolu News Agency.
There have been reports of confrontations in the capital, Ankara, as well as the port cities of Izmir and Adana.
It all began with a peaceful sit in protest of civilians against the demolition of a park. But police brutally attacked the peaceful protestors which sparked the wider civil unrest which highlight issues such as freedom of speech and a “heavy handed government”.
There have been calls for PM Erdogan to resign. Let us stand with the Turkish people and remind them that we stand up with in their fight to determine the fate of their democratic country!
