Hit and Run: a public meeting with Jon Stephenson
Saturday, 17 June at 3pm.
Grey Lynn Library Hall, 434 Great North Road, Auckland
This week we took action at BECA Engineering’s office as the warmongers started planning this year’s weapons expo. BECA is a major sponsor of the annual weapons expo held by the NZ Defence Industry Association. This lobby group is in the business of making a profit from war and we aimed to bring home the brutality of what these companies actually do. The weapons expo is scheduled to be in Wellington on October 10 & 11.
Our demonstration was a message to the weapons lobby that we will be there in October to stop their expo because this obscenity cannot continue. The nature of modern warfare has meant that those who are culpable for the deaths of innocent civilians are also removed and detached. They never have to witness the carnage of their creations. We have attempted to shatter that detachment by bringing blood to the offices of BECA. There can be no peace and no justice while companies such as these leech off human misery.
