International Women’s Peace Group- Auckland Peace Walk, 8th March

Good Afternoon!

Apologies for the late notice.
I am writing to you from the New Zealand branch of the International Women’s Peace Group. We are co-hosting a Peace Walk and Peace Picnic on Tuesday 8 March, International Women’s Day, in Auckland CBD. This will be an uplifting event with many inspirational women in attendance, as well as some fantastic up and coming kiwi artists performing at our Peace Picnic in Albert Park.

For the first time in 5 years, Women Walk and Work for Peace (WWW4Peace), is extending their Peace Walk and celebration of International Women’s Day to Auckland. This year WWW4Peace, the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) and the newly established Nirvana Foundation have come together to organize an International Women’s Day Peace Walk and Picnic in the Park on March 8, 2016.
Further details are below, please don’t hesitate to get in touch if anyone is interested or if you have any questions.

The proposed event’s program is as follows:
• A Peace Walk from Britomart’s Queen Elizabeth (QEII) Square to Auckland University Student Quad will be starting at 11:15 am to 12:00pm. Assemble at 11:00 am. (NGOs to bring their flag or banner to the march)
• Speeches at the Auckland University Student Quad (British High Commissioner Jonathan Sinclair and the Consul General Arlene R. Gonzales-Macaisa and other dignitaries); self-defense interactive session (Contact Training Systems)
• Peace Picnic at Albert Park from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. Food and drinks will be distributed (courtesy of Auckland Businesses supporting International Women’s Day) at the AU Student Quad and enjoyed at the park with some performers celebrating the day with songs and dances. Bring a picnic blanket and celebrate with us.
• In case of rain, only the Peace Walk will be cancelled. Festivities will be all held at Auckland University Student Quad at noon.
