AUCKLAND TO RALLY AGAINST WAR ON IRAN — SATURDAY 2PM

StopWars Aotearoa calls on New Zealanders to stand up as Trump and Netanyahu escalate attacks on Iran

AUCKLAND — The StopWars Aotearoa coalition is calling on all New Zealanders who believe in peace and sovereignty to take to the streets this Saturday, April 11th, at 2pm, as the United States and Israel intensify their military assault on Iran.

Demonstrators will assemble at Aotea Square at 2pm before marching to the United States Consulate, delivering a clear message to Washington: New Zealand stands against this war.

“New Zealand cannot stay silent as Trump and Netanyahu wage war on another country and its people,” said Joe Carolan, spokesperson for StopWars Aotearoa. “We have a proud tradition of nuclear-free, independent foreign policy in this country. That means speaking out — loudly and clearly — against illegal and immoral wars.”

“We are marching to the US Consulate because that is where this message needs to be heard. New Zealand is not a bystander. We demand our government condemns these attacks and stands on the right side of history.”
The rally will feature a powerful and diverse lineup of speakers representing politics, labour, peace and community movements:

Speakers to include:

– Ali Reza — Iranian community, Auckland
– Joe Carolan — Socialist Aotearoa & StopWars Aotearoa organiser
– Phil Twyford — Labour Party
– Ricardo Menendez March — Green Party
– Victor Billot — Alliance Party
– Sandra Grey — Council of Trade Unions (CTU)
– Maher Nassal — Palestine Solidarity Network Aotearoa (PSNA)
– Kelby Dalton — Americans Against War
– Bill Bradford — Workers First Union

Representatives from Extinction Rebellion
Representatives from the Cuba Friendship Society
And many more voices from across Auckland’s communities

Following the march, Revolution Sound System will be set up outside the US Consulate for a Rage Against the War music session — because the fight for peace has always had a soundtrack.
