Auckland Is Not For Sale!
Mayor Wayne Brown has passed his first austerity budget. Auckland Council voted on Friday 8 June for $83.9 million worth of cuts to community services and a sale of 7% of public shares in Auckland Airport.
Brown intends to strip the Council of its assets and slash its services in order to enrich his ultra-wealthy backers. We will not let him. What politicians do, the streets can undo — and we will fight back!
System Change Aotearoa will be hosting a public meeting on Thursday 22 June to oppose the cuts and privatisation, and to imagine a transformational, fossil-free future for Tāmaki Makaurau. The hui will be on at 7:30pm at Unite Union — 6a Western Springs Rd, Morningside.
